Alums of UC Berkeley are eligible to keep their active CalNet account after graduation. Alums must use CalNet 2-Step and abide by the CalNet User Terms of Service and campus use policies. Please note that campus policies change over time, and the current availability of alumni CalNet accounts does not guarantee this as a lifetime benefit.
An active alumni CalNet account is defined as an alumni account that has a personalized CalNet ID, is not in grace and is not expired. Additionally,
-
Alums who are eligible for Alumni Email Service must adhere to the annual alumni email renewal process, or the email account will expire.
-
Alums who are not eligible for Alumni Email Service must log in to their CalNet account at least once every 6 months, or the account will expire.
An alumni CalNet account that has expired and/or does not have a personalized CalNet ID is considered inactive. Inactive alumni account holders may ask a campus employee to sponsor an exception to get or reactivate an alumni CalNet account.
Important Reminder: We recommend that you do not use your Berkeley email address to sign up for non-campus websites or services. This will prevent losing access to those services if and when your alumni CalNet and email accounts expire or are no longer offered to alumni.
