Manage My CalNet Account

Access self-service account management tools at: mycalnet.berkeley.edu

CalNet Account Manager (CAM) is a self-service tool located at mycalnet.berkeley.edu. Students, employees, affiliates, alumni and stu-delegates can use CAM to change their passphrase. Users can also:

  • Change their CalNet ID (once, only)
  • Update their Recovery Email Address
  • Manage their 2-Step settings

Users can only use CAM to change their CalNet ID or recover a forgotten CalNet ID or passphrase only if they have an existing Recovery Email Address.

Tips for Managing your Passphrase

Follow these simple steps to keep your passphrase secure and your CalNet account accessible:

  1. Review and update or add a Recovery Email Address
  2. Change your Passphrase to meet the CalNet Passphrase Requirements. Do not reuse this passphrase for any other account!
  3. Sign up for a free LastPass Premium account to keep your passwords safe.

Change Passphrase

This tool allows users who *know* their existing passphrase to change it.  

  1. Review CalNet Passphrase Requirements
  2. Log in to Calnet Account Manager
  3. Click Set a New Passphrase

4. Enter your current passphrase

5. Decide whether you want a regular passphrase, or long passphrase; check the box accordingly

6. Enter your new passphrase

7. Enter your passphrase a second time

8. Click the Change my passphrase button

A green confirmation message will display that indicates your passphrase has been successfully changed.

Add or Change Recovery Email Address

A Recovery Email Address is required to use the self-service tools at mycalnet.berkeley.edu. It is the address that receives all account change notifications. You cannot reset a forgotten passphrase yourself, if you do not have a Recovery Email Address on file!

1. Log in to Calnet Account Manager

2. Click Change My Recovery Email Address

3. Enter your non-berkeley.edu email address in the New recovery Email Address field

4. Press Change

5. Navigate to the inbox of the email account listed in step 3

6. Find the email from CalNet, "Confirm external email address change," and open it

7. Click the Confirm email address button (within three days, or the button will expire)

What if my Recovery Email Address is missing or outdated?

If you need to update your Recovery Email Address and you CAN log in to CalNet, log in to mycalnet.berkeley.edu and set it.

How do I add a Recovery Email Address if I cannot log in?

Send an email to calnet@berkeley.edu with your Student, Alumni, UCPath or CalNet ID and a request to set your Recovery Email Address. You will be required to provide additional information to verify your identity before the request will be processed.

Change My Username

You are allowed to change your username (CalNet ID) only once, so choose wisely. Your email address will be updated to match your new CalNet ID.

There are other ramifications to changing your CalNet ID -- access to some campus systems may break. Read through the Change CalNet ID documentation before proceeding.

1. Log in to mycalnet.berkeley.edu 

2. Click Change My Username. CalNet ID requirements will display on the page for easy reference

4. Enter your new CalNet ID and your passphrase, then press the Change My CalNet ID button.

Forgot My CalNet ID / Passphrase

To use this feature, you must have a Recovery Email Address in the system. If you attempt to use this tool and are unsuccessful, email calnet@berkeley.edu for assistance. You will be required to verify your ID via a remote Zoom session.

1. Navigate to mycalnet.berkeley.edu and click the link to Forgot My CalNet ID / Passphrase

2. Check the box next to "Student ID" "UCPath ID" or "Recovery Email" to select which ID you will use to reset your passphrase

3. Enter your corresponding Student ID number, UCPath ID number, Alumni ID number or Recovery Email Address in the box.

4. Check the box to verify that you are not a robot

5. Press the Request Reset button.

If you have a Recovery Email Address in the system, you will receive an email to that address containing reset instructions. You will need to know your UCPath, Student or Alumni ID number to complete a passphrase reset.

Account Information 

The Account Information section displays the following information about the user currently logged in.

Display Name
Your display name is what displays in campus applications, such as bMail. You can change or update this in the campus directory.

Berkeley Email Address
This field displays your current bMail address.

Recovery Email Address
This field displays your current Recovery Email Address.

My IDs
This field will list any IDs, such as student ID, that belong to you.

  • ucPathID = your Employee or Affiliate ID from the campus HR system
  • campusSolutionsId = the ID assigned to you from the campus Student Information System. Note: all students, employees and affiliates have "CS ID" regardless of whether they are or were ever a student

My Affiliations
This field lists your current campus affiliations. Click here to see a complete list of campus affiliations.

Name and Group Information
This section lists the names that you own in the campus name space, and the groups to which you belong.
